100,000 Years of Consciousness

June 13, 2025 10:24am

We perceive our reality through 100,000 years of consciousness which alters the truth in substantial ways. This deception is the child of our wishful thinking and inability to face who and what we are. We seek meaning and the result is ego and thoughts of immortality; but even if we could achieve this fantasy, we would find only desolation and despair. In short, there is no escape from our predicament; the only recourse is acceptance. Live well, be kind and fair. Exit with honor when the time comes.

Yesterday, Israel tried to take out Iran’s nuclear capability. I’m sure this will end the conflict permanently.

Today it is raining.

Song of Sorrow

Walking around the garden, I sensed movement and saw a young bird running toward me. Unable to fly, his voice made up for it. The chirps were pure tones and surprisingly loud. I considered his fate and my options. Would it be possible to save this fledgling robin? He came closer as if seeking help. It was then that I realized this bird would probably not make it and I felt a flush of anger that the wild world would not show it any mercy. Next, the realization that I would probably add to his pain when he tried to pass under the electric fence. He was about the right height to take a spark to the head when he completed the circuit. Helpless, I wondered what God would create a world with the odds stacked against the young – both avian and human.

The Future

At death, the staring eyes and incontinence disavow any remembrance of personality, and you just give in to the inevitable. Vanity and ego are gone and only dependence on the spoon-fed applesauce remains. Get used to the idea now; this is your future.

The mocking rabbit ran out of luck and disappeared into the recesses of the top hat from which he was plucked – good luck in the big clover field in the sky. Watch out for hawks. I am sorry it had to end this way, but all living creatures follow the same path.

There are words I can no longer call to mind in an instant. Professor of classics – philology; been trying to think of this word all day as another tries to remember the year.

I guess maybe now we’ll get some green beans.
